Hey benchrest shooters
How many of you have actually tested your groups against bullet run out?
How much run out before your groups opened up?
I know we strive for zero run out but do I really need to chase it down?
under .002, under .003, under .004, when Is it not exceptable?
all my stuff is under .004, In a 6.5 Creedmoor.
My sized cases are all under .0025, usually within .0015.
Once I seat a bullet (Berger 130 VLD) and measure at aproximately the ogive never more then .004
I use a Whidden full length bushing sizing die and a LE Wilson seating die in an arbor press.
I don't turn necks and I feel my .288 bushing is causing seating to be a little to heavy.
Going to try a .289 bushing this spring.
I'm not a benchrest shooter and I don't have a bench rifle.
And I know I'm not a great shot.

I'm not a benchrest shooter yet but did do an experiment once in an accurate Savage 30-06. From .004 and higher gave 2" groups, .003" and below went under 1 " with exactly the same load so it does make a difference.

That's been my experience as well.
