Any body has some good results with 140AB and RL-17?
Can you get to 3150Fps accurate?

I get 3150 fps with long case life using RL 22.

JD338, I have tried RL-22 and I can get velocity but not accuracy 140 AB. I have also other powders like H4350, IMR4831 ( I am working on this one ) and N560. Since RL-17 has similar burning rate as IMR4350 and H4350 it could work.

I hvae tried many different powders in my 280, and nothing seems to compare to the accuracy I get with IMR 4350.

I tried it, and had great luck with the 140 BT! Was getting groups in the .3" range, and was able to break the 3220 mark without any issues. I'll see if I can get some pics up tonight for you. I did a pretty extensive load work up because there wasn't any data available, and if I remember correctly, all the groups were under 1", and most were under .5".

I used RL-22 and had great luck as well, but couldn't get mine over 3150 without accuracy going to crap and pressure issues starting to creap in.

Velocities ES is not the greatest, but they seem to shoot great!

RL-17 is great stuff. I have a 145gr bullet moving 2954fps in my 24" TGR 7mm-08 and no pressure signs and it is under a 1/4 with five shot groups and 1/8 inch three shot groups. I is second only in accuracy with the 140gr bullets to W760. It burns clean and its high energy traits are the reason for this and it is not temp sensitive and I have used it from 28 degrees to 75 degrees up to this point and don't have big velocity swings. Good stuff very consistent and give great velocities.

Can you get close to the lands?
My rifle is throated long, I am .015" off the lands.

That's convincing proof of what that rifle will do! Always a pleasure to see such shooting, Jim.

JD338, my rifle N48 over 3.35 does not fit the magazine. I could get closer to the lands but it will not work for hunting situation. I like to be practical. I can see your load is 64 gr, maybe I should go over 63 gr. I agree that 280AI like to be shot close to the limit. I get the same accuracy with 120BT N160 63 gr at 3300 fps and 160 AB with RL-22 60.5 gr. at 2950 fps.
280 AI it can shoot.

Keep in mind that my rifle has a long throat. That load may be to hot in your rifle!

The 120 gr BT's shoot well too.

I don't mean to butt in but I'm running R-17 in my 280AI with 160AB and I got some 140AB that I'm going to try with R-17 also. Been a good powder in some of my rifles just starting to working up some load for the 243/243AI and a Kreiger barrel 300WSM.

Great targets Jake! That 280 is rocking!

Seems I haven't heard of a 280AI on here not shooting. Pretty good track record for sure.

The worst of these groups is outstanding, great rifles and great shooters. Love those pictures with the tiny little holes in them.
