Well Long and I hit the range yesterday...someone was nice enough to plow the road. Light winds...overcast...temp about 20 degrees

.280 Rem CDL Burris 4.5x14x44
120gr Nosler BT 3.333 COL 3 shot groups@100yds
Re 19 powder
1) 53.5 gr......... 1. 25 "
2) 55.5 gr......... 0. 24 "
3) 57.5 gr......... 1. 10 "

I will return with this load and smaller incremental +/-....but I think I hit the jackpot early! :p

NEW... Weatherby Vanguard Sub-MOA .308 Win cal.
Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x50
150gr Nosler AccuBond...initial barrel break in...
RE 15 powder
1) 42 gr......... 0.45"
2) 44 gr......... 0.77"
3) 46 gr......... 0.93

Varget powder
1) 46gr........... 2.25"
2) 47gr........... 1.55"

To early to tell but a guy has to love it when the first three shots out of a new rifle are a nice clover leaf under 0.50" !!!
Long and I have had great luck with Re 15 with .308s...this one looks to follow suit.

The target that came with the rifle was shot with a Hornady Custom 150gr Interlock and measrued 0.44 ".
This rifle is really sweet! all the bells and whistles of a Weatherby for a tad over $600. In fact my stock has the same tan/spiderweb finish as the new Mark V ultra lightweight.
The trigger is the only draw back but that will be an easy fix... I am already thinking of one of these in 22-250!

you might want to try dropping the varget loads down to 43 to 45 grains. I get good accuracy there with 2 308's i have

Northwoods Hunter,

Outstanding!
Sounds like you have a couple of shooters!
I have had good luck with the Alliant powders in several calibers.
Now that your load development is basically done,
GO KILL SOME COYOTES!!!

Very nice! Those 120 BT's will do for deer too if you pick your shots. I have killed antelope by the truckloads with a 7mm-08 rem and 120's at 3100 fps.

Just curious, What kind of velocity you're getting with your 308, with 46 grain of Varget?

From Quickload 46 gr of Varget and a 22" barrel shows.......

2843 fps and 60672 PSI

Returned to the Range with Long yesterday... here are the results; an foggy cold day...mixed snow/rain... light wind

RE 19 powder...120 gr Nosler BTs... 3.333 COL Fed 210 primers

!) 55.0 gr ..... 0.32 "
2) 55.3 gr ..... 0.44 "
3) 55.5 gr ..... 0.70 "

I had a tougher time sighting in the poor light and this Burris FF II cannot compare to a Zeiss Conquest... This scope is going to be replaced by another Zeiss...ASAP

Overall I am very pleased with the Remington CDL .280 and very close to being ready for Coyotes!

I shoot a Mark X Whitworth Mauser 24" barrel. It shoots sub inch groups with 150 Power Points and 165 SSTs (sorry nosler) It shoots 165 Partitions about 1.25" and 165BTs at 1.75. I used Varget 46.5 with the 150 and 45.5 with tthe 165s . capt david
