I was wondering what the fine fellers of this forum know about fireforming 458 from 300wm?
I have been searching and studying...... and I have a few particular questions.
I have a surplus of nickle plated brass that I'd like to use for this.
I plan on annealing the neck and shoulder before forming.
bullseye, malto meal, and a bar of soap will be the recipe.
I'll build a jig so I can saw off most of the extra length (dont wanna wear out the trimmer).

questions:
1) will the nickle brass hold up ok while annealing? I know it will discolor, I'm ok with cool colored brass 8) (I've never annealed nickle, but I have annealed brass)

2) will the nickle hold up to the stretch? .308 to .458 is a long ways!!! will the nickle plating just flake off?

3) should I just stick with good ole brass? I got plenty, but I'd prefer to keep it for my 300whinny!
