Interesting read. I see where an effort is being made to resurrect passenger pigeons and mastodons through genetic capture from laboratory and museum specimens. Wonder if such a possibility exists for the Merriam elk?

The heavy antlers remind me of Roosevelt Elk, from the pacific coast.
