7/08 162 AMAX

Well I think after looking over everything Im going to try the 162 AMAX with RL17 from the gfs kimber lightweight. If I can get 2650-2700fps, still have 1000ft lbs energy. Not to worried about the 162 amax at these velocities at longer range, its a wonderful elk bullet. Waiting on the Talley lightweights and then its range time.

Do you have the a-max's stashed away or are you talking about the 162gr Eld-M? Pretty sure a-max's are discontinued. I have to say, I was contemplating trying the same thing except with RL16. I was thinking that 2800fps MIGHT be possible.

Ive got about 1500 of the 162 AMAX...It is my favorite 7mm bullet. I started to stash them when I had my 7-300 Win Mag built 3 years ago Im just waiting on the talleys, should be here next week. Gonna load a few test rounds with rl17 this weekend.

47.2 grs H4350 with 24" barrel. 2725 fps and shoots bug holes. It s an OCW load from Practical Riflery... work up to it as its warm!! Beats Varget and H380 loads by about 75 fps. Haven't felt the need to try any other powders for add l velocity as accuracy so good in my gun.

OAL is 2.910 ..... I have an extended mag.
