Hey would one of you Guys with Quick load Please run me load data for the 257 WBee using a Barnes 80 gr TTSX - Fed215M and IMR 7828 powder ! Thks much appreciated ! :grin:

Not the 80 (sorry) but I load the Barnes 100 with RL22 (71 gr) and it is moving right along.
Right at 3350-3400.

I saw the load info on the Barnes website for that 80 grainer a couple of years ago... Wow! :shock:

With the mono-metal construction, a guy really doesn't need to worry about using the traditional 100 gr minimum for a medium game bullet. The 80 will likely work superbly on deer sized game, and frankly it would likely do for black bear as well.

Several years ago I tried the 100 gr Barnes TSX at 3340 fps on a couple of mule deer. Dropped 'em fast and bored right on through like a carbide drill bit. One I wasn't sure if it expanded, but it was a brain shot, so I guess it really didn't matter. The other expanded for sure. Made the heart look like an open phone book, the way it was laid out. I think the 80 grainer from either a .25-06 or a .257 Wby could be fearsome... Nearly 4,000 fps from the Weatherby... Sweet!

Wow, that is blazing fast, no matter how you cut it. I actually wonder how well the Barne's petals will hold up to that sorta speed. When Guy mentions it being a drill bit, I bet he isn't far off the mark!

That 100 grain Scirocco would be fearsome I believe. I have folded those inside out but man, they still hold onto at least 70% and a good frontal area..

Also, I believe, unless Dewey has found the magic, there is a little extra speed in there as QL doesn't account for the freebore in the chamber... Either way, it's danged fast!

I agree though. There probably is a little wiggle room in there.
 
Yeah, fast is fast. Even at the projected QL numbers, I can't see the little left on the table being a bad thing. I had ALOT of fun developing a load for my little brothers Vanguard. I REALLY was thinking of making an old 7mm Rem Mag into a 257....
 
Sounds like a cool project.
As you figured out playing, errrr, shooting one over the holidays, it is a seriously fun caliber.
MRP really makes the Accubonds hum too.

Friend of mine has run them over his and it was just over 4000 fps! Custom Vanguard with Mark V barrel basically ! He worked up to that really slow and not sure if he backed it down any as he probably has not!
