2017 Hunting Pictures

My good buddy 280 Remington was cordial enough to let me camp at his home this year for a few days. I'm an east coaster and have never hunted mule deer and it didn't take him long to put me in the thick of things. I had two tags so I filled this one on the first afternoon and then decided to hunt a monster.

On the third day, he filled a tag as well.

He is planning to come to the east coast and let me return the favor this February. He has never hunted hogs, but we plan to change that.

Nice mule deer for the both of you,CONGRATS!

We are ending archery season on 1/1/2018. Our local city asked us to double the number of deer60 to 120. I took 3 between Christmas and New Years Eve. Two more tags in my pocket, and tomorrow is the finale.

Excellent, Scotty! What distance did you take it? What bullet did you use?

Nicely done Scotty. You smoked him

It was about 70 yards Mike. I used 100 grains by weight of BH209 with a Federal BorLok. He actually ran about 50 yards at the shot. I was half amazed he went that far but there was so much blood everywhere it was a blast following the short blood trail.

They are very accurate Bullets. Load work was done quick. Very neat bullet for deer.

I did jump back up into my stand to wait for another after I dressed the first buck but my buddy took another buck about an hour later. It was a great morning.

I should look here more often, congrats to all.

Scotty is that a Remington muzzleloader? Nice looking gun whoever made it anyways. Haven't heard of those bullets but they obviously work well.

X2. Been some great hunts with some real nice animals for sure.

Scotty you the man. Make a good shot with a ML and don't even have time to wipe the blood off your gun or hands before you're all set to ambush the next one. Remind me not to get on your bad side. Lol.

It sure is Gerry. While I hate the trigger it is serviceable and it dang sure shoots. It uses a cut down 308 case with a 9.5M primer. It will take a monster charge of BH209. It has the oomph to run a 250 at 2450-2500. Feels very good to me. The Bullets are really good for deer but I won’t use them for elk. They expand really WIDE which is key for deer but I’m not sure they’d work great on elk bones. I got the gun to use if I got a ML elk draw out west but since I haven’t drawn one of those yet I’ll just keep working my local deer herd.

Ha! I did wipe it down eventually but it was time to HUNT! I really enjoy being in the woods. I can always clean guns but we only get so much time afield.

Cool, have never heard of it but it sounds like a neat gun. Will have to check them out.
