Thanks guys, that's a lot of great info.. the reason I asked the question is because I have rifles with various length barrels for 20in to 26in. Just wondering if I should be using faster powders in the shorter barrels so I get a full burn before the bullet leaves the barrel and slower powders...
I have been reloading for a year now and have chosen powders to try with the various loads by the suggestion of fellow reloaders..
My question, what is the science behind choosing a powder? What are all the variables one must consider.. short vs long barrel, bullet weight, case volume...

Quick load is on the list but I got a few items on the list above it.. the price of load data is ok for a unplanned purchase. . Im saving for a new barrel and stock for a build..

I have used this brand of marinade for years.. No where near as salty as Dales or Moores... they have a variety of flavors, Hickory and spicy are my favorite.. you can let it sit for a few hours or a day or two and it will not make your meat salty.. works great on deer, pork and poultry...

Had a range day today woth the 168 berger vld hunter and loaded from rounds from 67gr to 70.4 gr with bullet seated 0.010 off rifling.. while none were to bad, they weren't what im use to with this rifle... they all seemed to shoot the same.. 1 1/4-1 1/2 inch groups

Like Guy Miner said, behind the shoulder on deer is prefered, I ALWAYS head shot a hog if I cant get a quartering away shot. Head shot on a hog is first choice for me because I want all my meat.
Accubond or ballistic tip for deer but I use tsx or etip for hog
