I shot this out of my 700 Classic into water jugs at 10 yds,and it penetrated 6 jugs and was found between 6 and 7.It weighed 155 grains . This load shot at 100yds shoots a 3-shot group of .496 @2600fps and this is out of a 22in barrel. Oh and Scotty i finally got your VX3 2.5-8x36 mounted on it and love it. Lee

That looks like pretty good performance. I used a 250 grain Hornady InterLock SP to take a bison a few years back. I shot it from a BLR chambered in .358. It worked. It can only work that much better from a 35 Whelen, and you have just proved that. Thanks for posting. Thirty-five calibre cartridges rock.

Lee,

You are in the zone, the Whelen zone.
Nice load, excellent speed, accuracy, great bullet performance and all from a 22" barrel.

Good job Lee.

Looks like you have found yourself a great load. The Hornady bullet performed pretty good in the jugs.

Great shooting Lee! Bullet looks like a great one. Glad the scope is working out well. Scotty

Very nice!

Somewhere in the depths of my mind I recall someone saying something about medium bore cartridges moving at medium velocities and...was "perfection" the word they used?

Yup, don't over-stress the bullet with wild high velocity, and a conventional soft-point does a fine job.
