This afternoon being too wet to do anything else , I dug out the 30-06. I decided to try out the 220gr RN bullets I got and some 180gr AB Grade C. Input my data into QL for some baseline with N555 and went from there. My Winchester brass is a little large on internal capacity making N555 ideal...
I’ve had good results following Barne’s recommended COAL. They list 3.210” for your combo. I would give that length a try before going thru your bullet supply.
Doing a little online research shows a lot of people doing sub sonic 300BO with this bullet. I can’t imagine a whole lot of expansion at those speeds , just a big heavy torpedo.
I would say you have 15” of vertical adjustment per revolution with dash on the coin adjuster to keep track where you are. My Dad’s old Redfield was the same way , just turn with no clicks.
