Well I went and jumped on the AR bandwagon after giving my buddies
every excuse I could why I don't need one.
Although its a Carbine model 16" barrel and its basic use is home defense
I want to reload for it as I have for everything else.
I've read most of the 223 posts and such but I know there...
As many of you may know I have been waiting a long
time to get some of these elusive bullets for my .340.
A month or so ago I bought several boxes and worked up
a load and it seems everyone was right. These are very
accurate bullets however my groups seemed to open up
as I got much above 2850...
Well after my last outing with my new sub moa .340 250gr Accubond load
I went again today and the third round went 4 inches high I thought....huh.
I waited about 30 min while it was raining and settled back in to try again.
The vertical string was about 6 inches high and low. Well got home and...
With all the talk about this little bullet
I felt it prudent to load some and see what I
could get. I shot these off my back pack as a
rest on the gas line this morning. A very accurate
bullet indeed. Skid
After 6 months I have some Accubonds
coming from BPS.
Never loading these in my .340 I hope they
are all I think they will be. I cant wait.
Skid
I know I should be using the Wanted section
but I thought I would have better luck here.
Looking to buy 2 T/C maxi ball molds #7290 .50
and 7292 .54 . I need the 54 bad.
If anyone is willing to part with them shoot me a
PM, Thanks Skid
Gentlemen,
To help me make a decision on this Whelen
I need some input on barrel lengths, contours and twist rates
[200-250gr bullets] as I am leaning toward rebarreling
a donor 700 barreled action. Also looking at Pac Nor for the
barrel and job. Any help would be appreciated, Skid
After having trouble finding a bullet that would stabilize in my .308
shooting reduced loads , I had success with this one. Although
@ 1425fps there is no expansion but I didn't expect it to. Shoots great for my
13 year old daughter low noise and recoil.
I your practical experience are belted cases more likely
to suffer from case head separation than rimless ?
I have .340 Wby Mag cases exceeding 8 reloads {neck sizing}
that exhibit no internal ring or groove. And what case life do you
get on belted Mags?
I'm sure this has been asked before and I do see IMR's published data
using TB for reduced loads in .308 win. My question is has anyone here
have any experience loading with it. I have been wanting to try it for a
long time and now have the powder. Yes I will only single load them as
this...
After reading several knowledgeable members posts about BT's I decided
to try some with know powders and chgs.
My favorite load of varget and the Accubonds didn't do as well as I hoped
but the 8208 did well except for the monkeys in both the groups.
Accubonds w/Varget & BT's w/8208. Cant wait to...
While in between guns I shot 3 different .308 165gr
bullets to test. all shots were @ 2640 fps and 50yds at 6 jugs.
1. NP 5jugs
2. Speer BTSP 5 jugs
3. Sierra Gameking 4 jugs found cup on ground no core
Was Impressed with the cheaper Speers didn't separate like the
GK and had a lot of expansion
Was just wondering what everone else uses
to seat primers with. Been having some issues
lately had to uniform some pockets in new WW
brass....almost forgot what it was like haven't
used new brass in a long long time.
With my supply of Varget on the decline and no replacement
in sight I jumped on a jug of 8208 XBR for my .308.
I see the data listed from IMR can anyone give me the heads
up on this new powder for me ? I use 165 and 168's. Thanks in advance. Skid
Twice now in as many days someone has looked
at my rifle and asked me why I would waste my money
on a Leupold product. I don't understand. I have 2
VX3 4.5X14X50LR mounted on rifles that have worked
flawlessly and with total repeatability of adjustment.
If my .340 can't beat it into submission...
It was such a nice day today I felt compelled to shoot
the .308 at the range. Most of the guys are younger with
better rifles but this old man shot a few groups
with my Remington SPS. Match Kings made me look good.
And how about those 165 NPs I use for hunting...5 shots not to shabby.
New to the Forum good looking site.
As I get older I am more willing to try new things
and was wonder what results others have had using
powders other than RE22 and 7828 in their .340s.
I only load .250s and always have had good performance
just thinking about different powders.
