Not that exact combination but you never hear about the Ballistic Tips coming apart in flight. For accuracy I think you have a good chance to find a good load. I know a guy who shot a nice Mulie with the 55 gr BT out of a 243.
Can't see you having any issues with the Ballistic Tips and it's very unlikely the Varmageddon will either. If you have the gun already I would give it a try.
Looks like a good start. Vihtavouri powders seem like really good stuff. if you can get those speeds safely that's pushing on the lower end of 300 WSM performance. In my last 30-06 I tried RL 22 with the 220 gr Partition and got 2550 fps, this is definitely a step up in performance. If you can...
Yep shot my first moose in 1990 with 220 gr Silvertips from a 30-06 at slightly less speed than a 300 H&H. Had jacket core separation on my 2 nd shot but they worked. First one sailed right through. Shot my first black bear too with that load.
It was a pleasure meeting you, we were pumped when we saw the bear you got up there. So nice you could see Dr Mike too on the way south again. You drove through some nice country both ways.
We are moving to the North Okanagan this spring so won't be too far from where you live. Leaving on...
Read the article and watched the video @Guy Miner well done. I'm glad you were able to get such a beautiful bear on your hunt. It was nice to meet you face to face on that trip too. I'll share some thoughts on bear guns and bullets when I get the chance. Frying up bacon wrapped salmon and...
Thought there was a cool story behind this shotgun. Makes the hunt that much sweeter with that history. That shotgun has a lot more hunting trips in it any many more birds to bring in.
Yep, seems like Ballistic Tips are expensive up here now. I've been collecting the 170 gr 277 and they are $50-60 CAD usually. I got some on sale for about $45 not too long ago.
@cloverleaf prices are higher on lots of things now but glad you found some of those 100 gr blue tips now that they...
