Quaker Boy makes a gobble shaker call that mimics a challenging Jake, I've never used one, but reliable sources say it does great at unlocking gobblers.

I just call it a copper pot call and yes you use it just like a slate. The crosshatch pattern is just the way I condition the copper. I try to do 90* but precision isn’t important.
Finished this Osage orange (aka hedge apple) copper call for a member. The one in my personal stash has about all the finish wore off, it's rolled around in my bag for I don't know how many trips. Glad to see someone appreciate this excellent American hardwood.
